It takes some people years to win the L. Ron Hubbard Writers & Illustrators of the Future Contest, if they ever win at all.

But for illustrator Jazmen Richardson, it only took two tries.

The 20-year-old Elbridge native submitted three illustrations to the 29th annual international competition last spring and learned in October that she was one of 12 winners. Richardson’s artwork won her a cash prize as well as admission to an intensive week-long workshop in Hollywood this spring.
